She's a human scientist on a dangerous quest.

He's the shifter determined to save her.

For weeks, Ona has been doing the impossible: finding ways for humans to live in the toxic & hostile Dry Deep. Her whole team is plagued by sabotage and a fearsome beast named Red Eye. Desperate, she sends for help. It's up to her to get them out, and she's willing to sacrifice her own life to succeed in that mission.

Diage hears word of the human plight in Dry Deep and rouses his cadre to action, not realizing that the woman he's rescuing is fated to be his beloved. He goes at first, simply intent on helping rescue the survivors. But when he realizes that she is his mate, matters become far more complicated.

Especially once the two of them are trapped in the bottom of Dry Deep and must work together to find a way out while Red Eye hunts them. It isn't that he doesn't want to fall in love. But he doesn't want to take away her choice. And he is falling for her so hard and fast, it feels like there could be no one else for him. Together they must escape and navigate a way between their two disparate cultures to find love and fulfillment.
