Forgotten Love

Whoever said life isn’t fair doesn’t know how to tell a good joke.

Trust was a unique concept I just couldn’t seem to stop giving. I trusted too easily, and for that, I have to accept the consequences. But I was a teenage girl who had been lied to, deceived, betrayed, and misunderstood.

When everyone else was fighting in a war of good versus evil, I was fighting myself. Unable to control my actions or the thoughts caused by the darkness, I didn’t know who I was or what purpose I served, but the rest of the world did.

Or so they thought.

The small pieces I’m starting to learn about my past are painting a different future than what everyone believes, though—a darker future.

One I may never be able to escape from.

Will the fire in me burn hot enough to show me the light? Or will this darkness become the future I’ve so desperately tried to avoid?
