Ian Thomas thinks the warning is a joke, a line he’s heard his father say with a wink and wry smile since childhood. But when Ian moves from America to work on his uncle’s sheep farm in the Adelaide Hills, he soon realizes his father was right.

Something sinister hides within the roses and kangaroo paw of the flower shop run by Ian’s aunt. Something with eight legs that hates people and wants revenge.

Halloween is approaching, and so is the annual sheepshearing festival. It should be an exciting time filled with fun and laughter. But for Ian, his relatives, and the townsfolk of Hahndorf, October 31, 1976 will be a day from hell.
