Truth is pain.

My days are filled with ink and my nights with blood. There's a reason they call me the l'uomo nero... the boogeyman.
And women? They were good for a night, and only if they played by my rules. Anything more was out of the question. Until little liar, started waitressing at my club.

I know nothing about Verity except that she doesn’t add up. She's a princess if I ever saw one. As much as I hate deception, the fabrications uttered by that luscious mouth don’t seem to matter. Because I can’t rid myself of this all-consuming need for her.

I try to push her away. The last thing I need or want are feelings and complications. But the harder I push her away, the more I need her.

When her past drags her back to her gilded cage, determined to destroy the beauty of her soul, I hunt them down. They won't touch her and die. They will beg for death.
