Here’s what I can tell you about me:
1. I’m a homicide detective.
2. I’m a hitwoman.
3. I’m the last Phoenix in existence.

Or so I thought…

My life is simple. Solve crime as a Chicago homicide detective. Murder the targets my boss gives me. Simple. I live a life of solitude and loneliness, being the only creature of my kind. I grew up with an adoptive family, never knowing my parents. Never understanding how I came to exist. Years and years of searching have put me no closer to the answers I so desperately need.

That is until my newest murder case brings me face-to-face with a woman whose eyes match my own and my newest target leads me to the answers I’ve sought my entire life. My simple life will become a tangled weave that threatens to strangle me. For once, I’ll be forced to pick a side — the enemy or my family. My actual family. My only question is, will I survive the raging battle between the two?
