The Girl Who Never Lived

Neve Stormhands has been a teacher for longer than she could have predicted – twenty-five years too long. She had always been about the adventure, never staying in one place for more than a week. But when her mentor, Arlir, told her that a special witch would soon come along, needing skills that Neve and Neve alone possessed, she could not refuse. But the "special" student never came, and now she is chafing at the bit. She is feeling irritable, reckless, and she is not quite ready to admit that she has failed Arlir's final mission for her.

For someone who has been a servant at Damose Academy her entire life, twenty-five year old Elly has an irrational fear of witches. Whenever one is around, she does her best to hide in the shadows, almost feeling the comforting embrace of the darkness. Her small cottage, as well as her duties, keep her far enough away from the witches who live at the main building of the school for it to be a rare occasion for her to come face to face with a witch, but when the strongest witch of them all gets herself fired, she finds she has no choice but to be in close proximity with the very thing she dreads the most. The irresponsible behaviour of Neve Stormhands may just change Elly's life forever, regardless of what Elly herself might want.
