For years, I spent days on end putting broken minds back together, believing that I could understand how the darkness seeps into the human mind. That was until I was asked to step into a world I was never meant to be in. Lies, deceit, secrets, and threats I can’t name, all surrounded by shadows that threaten to swallow everything I fought to protect. I built sky-high wells around my thoughts and heart in order to survive. The deeper I go, the harder it becomes to separate who I am from who I have to become. When the darkness finally lets me go, the only question is whether I will come out untouched or if a piece of me will stay in the depths where it doesn’t belong.

We are forged in blood. Shaped by fire. The darkness that surrounds us is second nature to who we are. Everything that doesn’t want to see the light of day remains hidden in the dark. We work to make sure the secrets are dragged out. Then, she entered our world. She’s too determined, too fearless, and much too willing to carry the trauma that no other individual is brave enough to face. She hides herself behind the walls she thinks we can’t break, but we are the ones putting the cracks into her foundation. We know the monsters by name and know how they wait in the shadows to attack. Let the darkness come, let it try to take what is ours. We will meet it with fire, fury, and with the bloodshed that can only be understood by monsters alone.
