Sit, Stay

Veterinarian Callie O’Connor is mid-appointment with a very fragile cat when seventy pounds of military-grade chaos crashes through her clinic door — trailing a snapped lead and, eventually, his handler.

Air Force pilot Dean “Bingo” Mercer has one mission left before his next posting: prove he can handle Ranger, his unit’s retiring K9, or lose the right to adopt him. The Air Force says he needs a veterinary consultant. The town says he needs Callie. Ranger, who has opinions, agrees.

But Dean Mercer has never once stayed anywhere — and Callie has never left. When his family’s Texas ranch comes calling with room for a pilot, a war-hero dog, and one very good vet, she has to decide whether following her heart counts as following a man… or finally landing somewhere of her own.

The prequel to the Iron Creek K9 series: where Ranger becomes the first stone of everything, Maverick commits his first ring-related crime, and an eleven-year engagement begins. Complete HEA. The county takes it from here.
