Danny Wareham moved to a country town to give his daughter a fresh start - he never expected to find a home worth fighting for.

After a bitter divorce, investigative journalist Danny reluctantly brings eight-year-old Lucy for riding lessons, hoping the rural environment will help her adjust. But he's sceptical about everything; the horses, the community's bypass resistance, and especially equine behaviourist Zoe Webb's determination to rehabilitate an abused pony everyone says is hopeless.

As Danny investigates the bypass corruption that threatens Ridgewater's future, he begins to appreciate Zoe's peaceful presence and patient methods. When Lucy's gentle presence begins reaching Midnight in ways nothing else can, Danny realizes he's witnessing something extraordinary - the healing power of unconditional love. But when Midnight's transformation makes him a champion and his abusive former owners demand him back, Danny must use his investigative skills to protect the pony and the family that's become his home.
