BRU Honors College (One Love Exclusive colorway)

Black Romance University's establishment date of 1969 is a nod to when Signet (an early romance imprint) released Rubie Saunders' Nurse Morgan, R.N.—the first novel featuring Black characters written by a Black author on their Nurse Romance line. Though there were previously stories written by Black authors that detail love stories between two Black characters (Shadows Uplifted by Iola Leroy in the 1800s, Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston, etc.) Nurse Morgan, R.N. in particular feels (in my opinion) most akin to what we would come to recognize Black romance. Hence the naming of our honors college after Saunders.
